The Skoda Superb has always been one of the best-packaged cars in its segment. Compared to its rivals, it comes out to be one of the most pocket-friendly as well. And the most pocket-friendly version of it has been the Corporate Edition. It was first launched last year, wearing a price tag of Rs 23.49 lakh. For 2019, Skoda has updated its recipe and has introduced it for Rs 23.99 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom).
At this price, the Skoda Superb Corporate Edition is still at least Rs 2 lakh less expensive than the Style variant. The Corporate Edition was earlier available in just one exterior paint option – Candy White. For the 2019 version, Skoda is offering an additional colour – Magnetic Brown. The 2018 model was only available for existing Skoda or Volkswagen customers. For the 2019 version, the company will only sell it to its existing customer.
As before, the updated Skoda Superb Corporate Edition is available with just one engine-transmission combination. The 1.8-litre turbo-petrol mill, which produces 180PS of power and 320Nm of torque, is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission. Skoda claims that the setup is enough to return a mileage of 14.64kmpl. The company is currently evaluating the option of injecting an automatic transmission in the Superb Corporate Edition’s package, and we could see that materialising by the end of this year.
Even though the Superb Corporate Edition is noticeably less expensive than the next-in-line variant, it is still loaded with several features. The list of safety gizmos includes eight airbags, three-point seatbelts for all five seats, electronic stability control, rearview camera and adaptive front-lighting system, which provides for headlamp swivelling and cornering functions.
There are a bunch of creature comfort features as well. The list includes three-zone climate control, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, humidity sensor, cooled glovebox, LED DRLs, automatic headlamps and wipers, cruise control and electrically adjustable driver’s seat. As will all Skoda cars, the Superb Corporate Edition also comes with four years warranty and roadside assistance as standard. The option to buy a 4-year service package is also available.
In India, the Skoda Superb competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Passat, Honda Accord and the Toyota Camry. Out of the lot, only the Passat is available with a conventional powertrain. The Japanese, on the other hand, comes with a hybrid powertrain. Tomorrow Toyota will introduce the all-new Camry in India, and that will start its innings with a hybrid powertrain only.
