Saar: This one cost the buyer around Rs 22.84 crore!
The Bugatti Chiron is one of the automotive world’s most iconic engineering marvels. Built to take the Bugatti Veyron’s legacy to the next level, it is certainly one of the quickest production cars out there. Bugatti has been hand-crafting the Chiron at its one and only facility in Molsheim, France, since the end of 2016. In May 2018, the whole Bugatti production team rolled out the 100th specimen of the supercar.
This one will be heading to the Middle East and has cost the buyer around Rs 22.84 crore (at today’s currency conversion rate). Bugatti itself is quite proud of this particular specimen. Stephan Winkelmann, president of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. shed some light on why the 100th Chiron is special. He said:
“I find the 100th Chiron especially pleasing. It is dynamic and elegant in equal measure. This car shows that Bugatti produces highly individualized masterpieces of automobile craftsmanship that are simply unparalleled.”
The 100th Chiron is painted entirely of dark blue carbon and gets a matt finish for the first time. The dark paint job is well contrasted by used of Italian red paint on the C-shaped scoop on the outside and the front and rear bumpers. The alloy wheels are painted glossy mink black, backed by red brake callipers. The dominant colour in the full-leather draped cabin is red, which really makes this particular Chiron a dual personality.
Every year, Bugatti rolls out around 70 cars from the factory. A total of 500 Chiron supercars will ever be made. That makes the 100th specimen complete 25 per cent of the Chiron’s production lifecycle.
We all know what powers the Bugatti Chiron. It is an 8.0-litre, quad-turbo, W16 engine that puts out 1,500PS of power and 1,600Nm of torque. We also know that the Chiron can complete 0-100kmph in just 2.4 seconds and that it, like the Veyron, has 10 radiators onboard. But most of us don’t know the facts listed below:
- 0-200kmph is dealt in 6.1 seconds; 0-300kmph in 13.1 seconds and 0-400kmph in 32.6 seconds
- The Chiron can accelerate from zero to 400kmph and decelerate back to zero in less than 42 seconds
- The W16 engine sucks in 60,000 litres of air every minute
- In one minute, the coolant pump circulates 800 litres of water through the engine
- If the carbon fibres used in the monocoque of the Chiron were laid out end to end, they would stretch nine times the distance between the Earth and the Moon. If that’s a bit too outer space for you, end to end the carbon fibres would wrap around the Earth more than 86 times.
Astonished? Everyone is!
