One of India’s most loved cars has received a mid-life refresh. Yes, it is the Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift. Prices start at Rs 5.73 lakh and go up to Rs 8.41 lakh. Depending on that variant, you could be paying anything between Rs 15,000 and Rs 24,000 more than you would have for the pre-facelift model. Maruti Suzuki has also added two new derivatives in the mix. The detailed price list clears the air:

If you’re looking for design differences, you’ll only strain your eyes. The most noticeable change is the chrome bar that runs within the new cross-mesh grille. As the price list reveals, the Swift is now available in dual-tone finishes. There are three combos to choose from – White, Red and Blue with a black roof. Indoors, Maruti Suzuki has given the 2021 Swift some silver accents and an updated instrument cluster which now features a coloured 4.2-inch MID TFT. The hatchback’s list of features has been beefed up with the addition of cruise control, idle start-stop function and auto-folding ORVMs. The rest of the kit has been carried over.

The most significant change in Swift’s recipe is under the bonnet. Maruti Suzuki has equipped the facelift model with the same 1.2-litre engine that also does duty in the Dzire and the Baleno. It offers 6bhp more than the previous unit, taking the power output up to 89bhp. At 113Nm, the torque figure remains the same. As before, the Swift is available with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The claimed mileage figures for MT and AMT derivatives are 23.2kmpl and 23.76kmpl, respectively.

Don’t fancy a dual-tone Swift? You can have it in any of the six colours – White, Blue, Red, Grey, Orange and Silver. In India, the Swift continues to compete directly with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Ford Figo. Although not in the same segment, the Renault Triber also falls in the same price bracket.
