Saar: Since its launch last year, the sub-4 metre SUV’s 6.5-inch infotainment system could only entertain pairing for phones compatible with Android Auto.

Apple phone users can finally rejoice. This is applicable for those who were considering the Tata Nexon as their next vehicle. Tata Motors has upgraded the infotainment system of its sub-4 metre SUV and it now supports Apple CarPlay. Up until now, the 6.5-inch infotainment system could only entertain pairing for phones compatible with Android Auto only. The upgraded system is on offer with the XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ trims of the Nexon.

What about the existing customers? As of now, Tata Motors has no solution to upgrade the older firmware of the infotainment system. However, it will be working to provide Apple CarPlay connectivity to all the Nexon users as soon as possible. Whether that upgrade will be charged for or not, remains unclear at the moment. In the coming days, Tata Motors will make an official announcement for the introduction of Apple CarPlay in the Nexon’s infotainment system and it is only then we will learn about how the company plans to provide this important feature to existing customers.

Tata Motors has been quite busy ensuring that its hot-selling SUV ticks almost all the boxes. After introducing AMT-equipped variants in the top-spec trim in May this year, the homegrown automaker added the convenience of the two-pedal setup in the mid-range variants last month. Apart from that, the Nexon has also received more options in the dual-tone exterior colours department.

The Tata Nexon is available with petrol and diesel engines. The former is a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit that puts out 110PS/170Nm. The latter, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre mill with a turbocharger which produces 110PS/260Nm. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AMT. The Nexon competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Honda WR-V.
