Saar: A batch of 10 Tigor EVs has already been handed over to the multinational corporation.
After EESL, the Tata Tigor EV (electric vehicle) is heading to the world of Cognizant. Tata Motors has bagged a deal to supply the pure-electric versions of its Tigor sub-4 metre sedan to the multinational corporation. The homegrown automaker handed over a batch of 10 units to the officials from Cognizant. This event took place at the Cognizant’s Hyderabad campus, where the Tigor EVs will be put into use first.
Additionally, Tata Motors has collaborated with two other companies from Tata Group to deliver a complete package with respect to EVs, charging infrastructure, maintenance services and financial assistance. As part of this order, Tata Power will supply and install two fast-charging stations in Cognizant’s Hyderabad campus. Tata Motors Finance, on the other hand, will provide the financial solutions to procure the Tigor EVs.
Sharing his views on bagging a second order for Tigor EVs, Shailesh Chandra, president, electric mobility business and corporate strategy, Tata Motors Ltd., said:
We are excited to be associating with Cognizant to provide them with a comprehensive solution towards the goal of a sustainable future, with our ‘One Tata’ approach, involving our other group companies. We will continue to strengthen our portfolio of EV offerings across our passenger and commercial vehicles, to meet future requirements.
Commenting on adoption of electric vehicles, Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, executive director, India, Cognizant, said:
At Cognizant, reducing our carbon footprint through efficient use of energy and protecting vital, irreplaceable resources are at the heart of our environmental stewardship initiatives. We are proud to lead by example and be one of the first companies in India to embrace the potential of electric vehicles as an innovative meeting ground of energy and mobility.
Prior to this order, Tata Motors won a tender that was released by EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd) last year. That tender was for a total of 10,000 EVs, most of which will be supplied by Safari-maker. In May this year, the company also inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Maharashtra to deploy a total of 1,000 EVs and set up charging points across the state.
A welcome sign – the big corporate especially those in technology consulting should take the lead in announcing major changes leading to a sustainable world.
