Saar: Both carry the XMA badge at the rear.

Tata Motors has introduced two new AMT-equipped variants of the Nexon SUV. Both wear the XMA tag at the rear and while the petrol-powered variant is priced at Rs 7.51 lakh, the diesel-fed XMA wears a price tag of Rs 8.54 lakh. With the introduction of these two, the total number of variants of the Nexon has gone up to 18, while the count for AMT-equipped ones goes up to six. The other variants that are offered with Tata’s ‘HyprDrive Self-Shift Gears’, which we normally call as AMT (automated manual transmission), include the petrol and diesel version of the XZA+ and XZA+ Dual Tone.

The company has also taken the opportunity to introduce a new roof-colour option – Ivory White. This, of course, will be offered only with the range-topping XZ+ variants with or without the AMT gearbox.

Tata Motors introduced the AMT-equipped versions of the Nexon in May this year. Prices for those variants started from Rs 9.41 lakh and went all the way up to Rs 10.59 lakh. Soon afterwards, we reported that the homegrown automaker will be launching more affordable variants with the two-pedal arrangement.

Tata Christens H5X Concept SUV As Harrier

Apart from adding the new 6-speed gearbox, there are no other mechanical changes to report. The diesel engine displaces 1.5 litres of fuel and produces 110PS of power and 260Nm of torque, whereas the petrol engine is a 1.2-litre unit that pumps out 110PS of power and 170Nm of torque. If you aren’t a fan of AMTs, both engines are also available with a 6-speed manual transmission. No matter which variant or gearbox you choose, the Nexon comes with multiple drive modes – ECO, City and Sport. Compared to its rivals in the sub-4 metre SUV category, the Tata Nexon not only has the highest ground clearance (209mm) but also the most powerful diesel engine on offer.
