Saar: It is available only available with one engine-transmission combination and the sole colour available for the exterior is “Candy White”.
Skoda Auto India has quietly introduced a new base variant of the Superb. Dubbed as the Corporate Edition, it is priced at Rs 23.49 lakh. It is based on the entry-level Style variant, which is priced at Rs 25.59 lakh, and is available only in one engine-transmission combination. Also, the Superb Corporate Edition is only on offer in “Candy White” exterior paint. The real catch here is that Skoda is offering this variant to only existing owners of a Skoda or a Volkswagen product. The difference of Rs 2.10 lakh is made up to two fields – an exchange bonus of up to Rs 2 lakh and an additional discount of Rs 10,000. (Variant prices mentioned above are ex-showroom India)
Apart from the limitation to choose any other exterior colour, the Superb Corporate Edition is an exact copy of the petrol-manual Style variant. That means the newly introduced entry-level variant is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-litre mill that produces 180PS of power and 320Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual unit which routes the power to the front wheels only.
In terms of features, the Superb Corporate Edition comes with 17-inch Helios alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, Bi-Xenon headlamps with automatic levelling, LED DRLs, panoramic sunroof, 12-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat and tyre pressure monitoring system. If all that is a bit poor for your taste, the executive saloon also comes with three-zone climate control, roll-up sun visors for rear windows and rear windscreen, LCD touchscreen infotainment system mated to an eight-speaker sound system, voice command function and electrically operated boot-lid.
In India, the Skoda Superb competes with the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord. While the Camry is available with or without a hybrid powertrain, the Accord is only available with a dual-engine configuration. The main threat for the Skoda product is from the similarly priced SUVs which include the Isuzu MU-X, Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner. The Superb Corporate Edition also tries to reel in higher variants of the Hyundai Tucson.
