Saar: As reported earlier, they have LED elements to make the sedan feel more premium.

Okay, guys, we know you all have already heard a lot about the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift, which will launch on August 20, 2018. The company officially started the teaser campaign with a video on social media during the fourth week of last month. The video had glimpses of the mid-life update of the Ciaz and all of them focused on the front end of the car. Now, Maruti Suzuki has officially released a teaser image of the reprofiled taillamps of the Ciaz facelift.

As reported earlier, the taillamps have now been beefed-up to flaunt striking LED elements. The shape of the taillamp enclosure, however, remains identical to the outgoing model. We’ve always maintained that this particular aspect of the Ciaz is very similar to that of the Honda City. The Nexa website also has a snapshot of the headlamp enclosure and that’s something that we’ve touched upon on a number of occasions already.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has always had the price advantage over its rivals. Even with the facelift, Maruti Suzuki will ensure that it undercuts the likes of the Honda City, Toyota Yaris and the Hyundai Verna. In its refreshed avatar, Ciaz will get some additional kit such as cruise control and LED DRLs. Unfortunately, it will miss out on one major feature – the sunroof. It is quite simply one of those gadgets that can potentially make or break the deal.

At the time of launch, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will be offered with an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) tech and the old, tried-and-tested, 1.3-litre diesel mill. The new engine, which is also expected to find its place in the second-gen Ertiga, is tuned to produce 104PS/138Nm. Compared to the 1.4-litre mill, the new motor has 12PS/8Nm more on tap. Transmission duties for new engine will be handled by a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic. The diesel, on the other hand, will be mated to only the 5-speed manual gearbox.

Unofficial bookings for the refreshed Ciaz began in the last week of July 2018. Maruti Suzuki officially started entertaining orders from August 10, 2018. As far as price is concerned, we expect it to cost up to Rs 40,000 more than the outgoing model.
