From April to July this year, Renault India has added seventeen new touchpoints. That comprises of fourteen showrooms and three workshops. Out of the lot, Delhi, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra got one facility each. Both Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh received two touchpoints each. And finally, Himachal Pradesh got four, while Telangana accounted for three facilities. All-in-all, the Indian arm of the French carmaker has been quite busy during the snoozed period.
With the new facilities up and running, the total count of sales and service outlets have risen past 390 and 470, respectively. Included within those are Renault India’s 200+ ‘Workshop On Wheels’. Apart from focusing on metro cities, the company is also expanding its presence in tier II, III and IV markets across India.
In July 2020, Renault registered sales of 6,422 units, which accounted for a 75.5 per cent growth over the same month last year. As per Renault, the recently launched variants of the Kwid and the AMT-equipped Triber have been well received. Later this month, it will introduce a range of turbocharged derivatives of the Duster. They will house the same 1.3-litre petrol engine that also does duty in the Nissan Kicks. The powerplant pumps out 154bhp/254Nm, and it will get two transmission options – a 6-speed manual or an 8-step CVT. In terms of pricing, expect the turbocharged Duster to undercut its turbocharged step-sibling.
