Saar: Based on the XL D (O) variant, the Terrano Sport gets a host of new styling elements to justify the new tag.
Nissan India has launched a new variant of the Terrano SUV. Called the Terrano Sport, it is priced at Rs 12.22 lakh (ex-showroom). Nissan has taken the XL D (O) variant, which has the same ex-Delhi asking price, and garnished it with more stuff. Unfortunately, no mechanical changes have been done. Hence, the Terrano Sport is offered with the lesser of the two diesel engine tunes and a 5-speed manual transmission only (no AMT on offer). That lesser tuned 1.5-litre diesel motor has 85PS of power and 200Nm of torque on tap.
With the resemblance out of the equation, let’s look at what else the Sport edition brings on the table. On the outside, it gets decals on the bonnet, front fenders, rear bumper and front and rear doors. The dual-tone body colour, with black wraps on the roof and pillars, is accompanied by plastic cladding on the wheel arches. Inside the cabin, the new crimson-stitched seat covers and floor mats with crimson highlights here and there complete the so-called “Sport” makeover.
In a press release, Jerome Saigot, MD, Nissan India Pvt. Ltd., said:
“Inspired by our global SUV heritage, the all new Terrano Sport Edition makes a bold statement and entry on the road. The sporty exteriors clubbed with the smart, luxurious dual tone interiors make it a great package for the customers who are looking for an SUV that complements their achievements and reflects their adventurous lifestyle.”
Other features on the Nissan Terrano Sport edition include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with built-in navigation, dual airbags, and ABS and EBD with BA. There’s also NissanConnect on offer which comes with features like Locate My Car, Share My Car Location, Curfew Alert, Speed Alert and Geo-fencing.
In case you are wondering why people playing cricket have been captured in the images of the Nissan Terrano Sport, the company entered into an eight-year partnership with the International Cricket Council till 2023.
