Weren’t exactly bowled over by the refreshed Mercedes-Benz GLC which broke cover earlier this month? Then, maybe, you’ll like its Coupé sibling. Say hello to the revamped Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé which, like the standard GLC, features some cosmetic changes inside and out, and more toys to play with. At the time of launch, the GLC Coupé will be available with five engine options. The refreshed model will make its world premiere at 2019 New York International Auto Show.
In terms of exterior styling, the refreshed GLC Coupé gets restyled front and rear bumpers, reprofiled LED headlamps (including DRLs) and taillamps and a slightly revised grille at the front. Inside the cabin, the resemblance with the GLC facelift is predictably uncanny. The new multifunction steering wheel is accompanied by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Right next to it is a touchscreen infotainment system which, depending on the variant, will span from 7 to 10.25 inches diagonally. Thanks to MBUX system, things inside the cabin can be controlled by several means, such as via steering wheel, voice command and via gesture control.
As far as the choice of engines is concerned, there are two petrol and three types of diesel. While all engines will come coupled to Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, only the petrol engines, wearing 200 and 300 badges at the back, will feature mild-hybrid systems. Power figures? Petrol engines offer between 197PS and 258PS whereas the diesel range from 163PS to 245PS. The story for torque figures is similar, with petrol engines offering between 320-370Nm and diesel ranging between 360-500Nm. Needless to say, petrol engines will have more torque to play with when the mild-hybrid system kicks in.
So, there you have it. The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé in its refreshed avatar. Will it come to India? Yes, but not with of the engines listed above. In all probability, we’ll get the AMG-spec GLC 43 Coupé. That means it’ll be powered by the same engine as the one that came with the recently launched Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Coupé.
