Homegrown automaker Mahindra has announced that the XUV300 has bagged more than 26,000 bookings since its launch in February this year. Moreover, the sub-4 metre SUV was the second-highest selling model in its segment in April 2019. Mahindra claims that out of every three bookings received, two are for the top-spec variants. In other words, 70 per cent of overall bookings comprise of W8 and W8 (O) variants.
It was in mid of March this year when Mahindra announced that the XUV300 had crossed 13,000 bookings since launch. Back then, the range-topping variants accounted for more than 75 per cent of the overall bookings. Official bookings actually began over a month before the SUV’s launch.
The Mahindra XUV300 is available with two, BSIV-compliant engine options – a 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre, turbo-diesel. While the former is good for 110PS/200Nm, the latter produces 115PS/300Nm. As of now, the only transmission option available with both engines is a 6-speed manual. An automatic transmission will join the party. However, that is expected to happen around the same time when the XUV300 becomes BSVI-compliant.
Mahindra’s newest entrant in the sub-4 metre SUV space is available in a total of four trim levels – W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O). The standard list of features includes dual airbags, disc brakes on all wheels, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX anchorages, electrically adjustable ORVMs, LED taillamps and 60:40 split rear seat with height-adjustable headrests. As you climb up the trim levels, the list of features gets lengthier with stuff like dual-zone automatic climate control, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, seven airbags, front parking sensors, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tyre pressure monitoring system and an electric sunroof.
In India, the Mahindra XUV300 competes with the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra TUV300, which recently received a mid-life update. Later this month, the segment will receive an all-new entrant in the form of the Hyundai Venue.
