After an agonisingly long wait, Mahindra has finally launched the XUV300 in India. The sub-4 metre SUV is priced between Rs 7.90 lakh and Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom India). It is available in four trim levels – W4, W6, W8 and W8 (O), covering two engine options and a single transmission. Before we go any further, let’s see how the detailed price list looks like:
Mahindra XUV300 Price List (Ex-showroom India)
Trim | Petrol | Diesel |
---|---|---|
W4 | Rs 7.90 Lakh | Rs 8.49 Lakh |
W6 | Rs 8.75 Lakh | Rs 9.30 Lakh |
W8 | Rs 10.25 Lakh | Rs 10.80 Lakh |
W8 (O) | Rs 11.44 Lakh | Rs 11.99 Lakh |
First up, the powertrain department. The Mahindra XUV300 can be had with either 1.2-litre petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel, both of which are turbocharged. While the former produces 110PS/200Nm, the latter puts out 115PS/300Nm. Unfortunately, there is no automatic gearbox on offer. Hence, both engines are by default mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Fun fact: The engines on offer with the Mahindra XUV300 are the torquiest in the segment. The diesel motor also claims the title of being the most powerful in the sub-4 metre SUV category.
As far as dimensions are concerned, the Mahindra XUV300 is neither the tallest nor the longest in the segment. What’s more, its 180mm ground clearance is nowhere near the segment benchmark. However, it is the widest and has the longest wheelbase of all its direct competitors.
Time to look at what the list of features looks like in the Mahindra XUV300. On the outside, the SUV gets 17-inch alloy wheels, LED DRLs, projector headlamps, dual-tone roof rails, a sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, heated ORVMs and a rear-view camera. Inside, the XUV300 gets dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start/stop, steering modes and an auto-dimming IRVM. The list of safety gizmos includes seven airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, ESP with hill hold assist, ISOFIX anchorages for child booster seats, front and rear fog lamps and three-point seatbelts for all seats.
So, there you have it. With the XUV300, Mahindra aims to shake things up a bit in the sub-4 metre SUV segment. The new entrant will try and do that by taking on the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V, Tata Nexon and the king of the segment – the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
