Mahindra’s only pure-electric sedan, the eVerito, has become a bit more affordable. The prices have come down by up to Rs 80,000, thanks to a revision in GST (Goods and Services Tax). As announced during this year’s budget, all-electric vehicles have now been moved from the 12 per cent tax slab to the 5 per cent one. Because of that, the Mahindra eVerito now starts at Rs 9.87 lakh and goes up to Rs 10.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, including TCS and FAME benefits).
Launched in June 2016, the Mahindra eVerito became one of the first battery-powered electric vehicle (EV) that went on sale in India. It is currently available with two lithium-ion battery options – a 13.91kWh and an 18.55kWh. While the former powers the C2, C4 and C6 variants, the latter does duty in D2, D4 and D6 variants. Both packs are connected to a single, three-phase AC induction motor which produces a modest 42hp/91Nm.
As far as the range is concerned, the bigger and smaller battery packs can last for 140km and 110km, respectively. In revive mode, the sedan can travel up to 8km extra over and above. Mahindra claims that via normal charging, the smaller battery will take approximately 8 hours and 30 minutes to replenish from zero to 100 per cent. The bigger pack, on the other hand, will take 11 hours and 30 minutes. However, when the recommended fast-charging setup is available, the smaller battery can juice-up from zero to 80 per cent in 1 hour and 20 minutes. The bigger pack will take 10 minutes extra. All of the above charging times are calculated with at a temperature of 25-degree Celsius.
In India, the only real competitor of the Mahindra eVerito is the Tata Tigor EV. Needless to say, the latter has also enjoyed a price reduction due to the same reason. Considering that the Tigor EV is smaller in dimensions, it costs less too.
