Saar: The special edition variant is based on the entry-level Sport and is available only with the diesel engine.
Jeep India has launched a special edition variant of its bestselling product, the Compass. Called the Bedrock, it is priced at Rs 17.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With that price, the Compass Bedrock sits in between the diesel-fed Sport and Longitude variants. Jeep has launched it to celebrate the sale of 25,000 units of the Compass in India.
The Bedrock variant is a limited-run stint for the Compass and Jeep is only offering it with the diesel engine. The new variant is based on the Sport trim but gets more equipment in its kitty. Additionally, the newcomer gets cosmetic changes inside and outside the cabin. What are those? Let’s find out.
On the outside, the Compass Bedrock comes with 16-inch alloy wheels finished in black, decals on the doors and bumpers, black roof rails and Bedrock badging on either side. Jeep will offer this variant in three colours – Minimal Gret, Exotica Red and Vocal White. Inside the all-black cabin, the seats get Bedrock markings in the backrest, new floor mats and a 5.0-inch infotainment display that also works as a monitor for the rearview camera.
Other features on the Compass Bedrock are inline with that of the Sport variant. That means you still get electronic power brake, dual airbags, 60/40 split rear seat, daytime running lights, hill start assist, ABS with EBD and rear wiper with washer. The engine-transmission combination remains identical too. The 2.0-litre diesel mill is good for 173PS of power and 350Nm of torque, and it comes mated to only a 6-speed manual transmission. Jeep claims a mileage of 17.1kmpl for this setup.
Just in case you are wondering the standard, diesel-powered, Sport and Longitude variants of the Jeep Compass are priced at Rs 16.55 lakh and Rs 17.87 lakh respectively (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). We expect more special variants of the Compass to launch in India in the near future. Apart from those, Jeep is currently working to introduce two more products in India – a sub-4 metre SUV and a three-row mid-sized SUV, which will sit above the Compass. The Jeep Renegade, which can be a direct rival to the Hyundai Creta, is also being considered for the Indian market.
