For Hyundai, the Venue has been nothing short of a blockbuster. In just over a year, the subcompact SUV surpassed the 100,000 sales mark. And now, to widen the car’s appeal, the South Korean carmaker has further expanded the Venue’s portfolio by adding a new trim level S+, introducing Sport pack and a clutchless manual system. Hyundai calls the latter as iMT (intelligent Manual Transmission) and explained the mechanism a few weeks ago.

The new transmission technology is available only with the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to the 6-speed manual. You can have that configuration in SX and SX (O) trim levels, with or without the newly introduced Sport pack. Here’s how their prices look like:

Before you wonder, the clutchless system hasn’t impacted the power/torque figures. That means the Venue, with a manual or the DCT, still gets 118bhp/172Nm from the three-pot motor. Hyundai hasn’t confirmed whether the new tech has any impact on the mileage or not.

Sticking with new prices, the Sport pack is also available with DCT-equipped SX+ variant, as well as the diesel-fed SX and SX (O) derivatives.

You must be wondering what does the SUV get with Sport pack. The extra money that you will spend over the standard derivatives will get you some shouty design cues. That includes a Sport emblem, red brake callipers, glossy black grille with red accent, dark grey garnish on the front bumper, dark grey rolls rails with red inserts and red accents on the wheel arches as well as body side moulding. Indoors, the Sport pack adds metal pedals, dark grey upholstery, red colour accents on knobs, D-cut steering and red stitching. Hyundai has also devised a new dual-tone colour option – Titan Grey with Phantom Black roof – for the Sport pack.

The Sport pack will appeal more to the younger audience. However, if you are on a budget and don’t mind getting the Venue with the 1.2-litre petrol engine, you have an additional option now. Hyundai has introduced the said engine option, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, in the S+ trim. That variant costs Rs 8.32 lakh, before taxes. For the extra money, you’ll get more features as standard, including an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED tail lamps and projector-type headlamps and fog lamps.

In India, the Hyundai Venue competes with the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and the Tata Nexon. Are you enticed with the clutchless system that Hyundai has introduced?
