If there’s one thing the entire world is fighting against together, it is the Corona Virus. Governments of several countries are working hard to curb the outbreak. The first step to enable that was to announce lockdowns of cities, states and even the entire countries. India falls in the last category. Being the second most populous nation on earth, it needs all the help from not only government-run bodies but also from philanthropists, celebrities and the private sector. And it seems Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is ready to provide the necessary support.
To practice the act of social distancing, the first step that the carmaker took was to suspend production at its facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Next, it ensured that customers do not worry about the aftersales service. In addition to offering 24×7 roadside assistance to customers in case of emergency, Hyundai has also arranged for doorstep services on bikes. And for those who are not able to avail vehicle warranty/extended warranty/Free Service due to the lockdown, HMIL will offer extended support of two months.
If you think that’s not enough, you may have a point. But Hyundai’s support for the fight against Covid-19 doesn’t end there. Knowing that the healthcare industry is under tremendous pressure, it has ordered diagnostic testing kits from South Korea. HMIL claims that the testing kit in question offers a “very high level of accuracy” and, all put together can serve more than 25,000 people. Once it receives the shipment from its home country, HMIL will work with the Central and State Governments to distribute the kits in hospitals.
For the record, it is HMIL’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) arm – Hyundai Motor India Foundation – that has taken the initiative mentioned above. Being the second-largest carmaker in India, HMIL has set an example for many other multi-national corporations. These are tough times for everyone. Any type of help, active or passive, could make a noticeable difference.
