Let’s face it – although things are improving, the whole atmosphere is still quite grim. Most of us are talking about the ever-increasing COVID-19 cases and the fact that the enforced lockdown took a severe toll on everyone’s life. To lighten things up a bit, Hyundai introduced a contest a week ago. Called ‘Lamp On Challenge’, it will run until July 31, 2020.
So, what is it? To enrol into the competition, Hyundai customers must follow a simple process. Take a picture of the car’s rear with the brake lights on, while a finger heart covers the number plate area (refer to the image above). Once done, post the photograph on social media platforms by tagging Hyundai Motor India’s official handle and two friends. Also, ensure that the post contains two hashtags – #Hyundai and #LampOn_India.
Upon completion of the contest, Hyundai will select 100 entries and award them with gifts. Now, what those gifts will be is not known. The more pressing question is why Hyundai would bother running such a competition? The answer is simple – to spread awareness about the importance of car maintenance and safety. It could be a stepping stone to bring about an attitude change on a large scale. What it also means that Hyundai might get tempted to run more such contests in the coming future.
In the present month, Hyundai has been quite active. It organised the first-ever digital event, during which we finally saw the introduction of the Tucson facelift. Then, a couple of days later, the ‘Hyundai Hygiene Drive’ came into play. And earlier this week, the South Korean carmaker introduced its new transmission technology with the Venue SUV. The sub-4 metre model also received additional trim levels, including a Sport pack.
