Until last month, BMW India was offering only a single variant of the 3 Series Gran Turismo. Wearing the 330i and M Sport badges, it had a sticker price of Rs 50.7 lakh. Sadly, that derivative is no longer available. The good news comes in the form of what the automaker has replaced that with – the 330i M Sport Shadow Edition. Priced at Rs 42.5 lakh, it costs Rs 8.2 lakh less than the axed iteration.

The Shadow Edition takes the sporty quotient a notch higher with Jet Black 18-inch alloy wheels. That’s on top of the M Sport treatment which adds an array of aggressive-looking elements, such as glossy-black grille, high-gloss chrome finish on the tailpipe and loads of M badges inside and outside the car.

Propulsion comes courtesy of a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. With 248bhp/350Nm going to the rear wheels only, the 330i M Sport Shadow Edition can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 6.1 seconds. BMW claims that the mileage figure can go as high as 13.95kmpl.

In terms of features, the 3 Series Gran Turismo will disappoint few. The list includes automatic tailgate operation, an active rear spoiler, frameless doors, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, launch control, auto headlamps and wipers, and a panoramic glass roof. Not impressed? The car also comes with stuff like powered-seats with memory function for the driver, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a 9-speaker 205-watt sound system, a rear-view camera and automatic start/stop.

Pretty cool, correct! There’s one more thing – BMW India has limited stock. Consider it as a clearance sale, because that’s where one gets the best value-for-money deals. BMW has discontinued the 3 Series Gran Turismo in most of its essential markets already. Would you buy the ageing 3GT over the new 3 Series sedan with the same specs?
