Saar: Apart from a host of cosmetic updates inside and out, the sub-4 metre sedan will also get a new petrol mill.
The sub-4 metre sedan category will get yet another dose of refreshment when Ford India launches the Figo Aspire facelift on October 4, 2018. Apart from a host of cosmetic updates inside and out, the Figo-based sedan will also get a new petrol engine. Obviously, the official pictures aren’t out yet but to get a fair idea on what the car will look like, you can check out the model unveiled in South Africa earlier this year.
So, what changes will the refreshed Ford Figo Aspire come with? Let’s start with the cosmetic updates. On the outside, the front bumper will flaunt a similar layout as the one on the Ford Freestyle. Apart from that, the surround of the front grille could get slight tweaks, reprofiled headlamp enclosures just like we saw on the Freestyle, new and bigger alloy wheels with fatter rubber, redesigned rear bumper and tweaked detailing in the taillamp units.
The mantra of borrowing stuff from the Ford Freestyle will also continue inside the cabin of the Ford Figo Aspire facelift. The biggest addition will be the 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC3. However, that is likely to be reserved to the range-topping Titanium+ variants only. The interior theme inside the cabin is all-black for markets like Brazil and South Africa. However, expect Ford India to retain the dual-tone, black and beige treatment to keep the sense of roominess intact. The enhanced feature list of the Figo Aspire facelift is likely to boast automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and a cruise control system.
In the engine department, the Figo Aspire facelift will ditch the 1.2-litre Ti-VCT and bring the new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol mill from the Freestyle. The engine will produce 96PS of power and 120Nm of torque. In the Freestyle, this engine is offered with only a 5-speed manual transmission. With the Figo Aspire facelift, Ford is likely to bring an automatic transmission option as well. There will be no mechanical changes to report on the diesel front.
Ford India is likely to keep the prices of the refreshed Figo Aspire extremely competitive. It is also possible that the prices don’t change much when compared to the outgoing model. Once launched, the Ford Figo Aspire facelift will take on the likes of the Volkswagen Ameo, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Tigor, Honda Amaze and the king of the segment – the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
