Saar: With the EcoSport S, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine makes a comeback.
Ford India has expanded the variant list of its most popular product by adding the ‘S’ variant. While the petrol-powered EcoSport S is priced at Rs 11.37 lakh, its diesel-fed iteration carries a price-tag of Rs 11.89 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Apart from these, Ford India has also introduced the Signature Pack for the EcoSport. Unlike the ‘S’, which is a new variant to the EcoSport’s lineup, the Signature Pack comes as an optional extra on the standard Titanium variant. More on that later. Let’s first acquaint ourselves with the updated price-list of Ford’s sub-4 metre SUV.

With the latest additions, a total of 15 variants of the Ford EcoSport are now on offer. Let’s see what do the ‘S’ variant and the Signature Pack have to offer.
Ford EcoSport S
The main talking point of this new variant is the return of the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine. Like before, it produces 125PS of power and 170Nm of torque. That 2PS/20Nm more than the 1.5-litre petrol engine, which made its debut last year when Ford launched the thoroughly refreshed EcoSport. Mated to the EcoBoost engine is an all-new 6-speed manual transmission. Ford claims that the mileage is clocked at 18.1kmpl.
If you are diesel fan, worry not because the EcoSport S is also available with the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre diesel engine. It has 100PS/205Nm on tap and comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The claimed fuel economy is 23kmpl.

As you can notice from the price-list above, the ‘S’ variant is now the new range-topper for the EcoSport. To make it feel so, Ford has garnished the EcoSport S with new 17-inch smoked alloy wheels, power slide sunroof, black painted roof, smoked HID headlamps with dark inserts, blacked-out grille, black roof rails and black fog lamp bezels. Inside the cabin, the sporty theme continues with orange accents on the seats and the instrument panel. Moreover, the ‘S’ variant becomes the only one to feature the bigger 4.2-inch digital driver’s information cluster and tyre pressure monitoring system. The rest of the features remain identical to the Titanium+ manual variants.
Ford EcoSport Signature Pack
As mentioned above, the Signature Pack is more like an extension to the Titanium variants. That means, there are no mechanical changes to report. What it does bring into the equation is some added lunacy on the outside and inside the cabin. On the outside, it comes with 17-inch diamond cut all0y wheels, black grille with chrome surrounds, black roof rails and fog lamp bezels, electric sunroof, Signature decals and a rear spoiler. Inside, it livens up the aura with blue accents on seat stitching, centre console and instrument panel. With the addition of EBA, ESC, TCS and HLA, the safety quotient has been upped too. However, unlike the ‘S’ variant, which is available with all standard colours for the body, the Signature Pack is only available in Diamond White, Absolute Black, Moondust Silver and Lightning Blue.
With the introduction of the S variant and the Signature Pack, the Titanium+ variants come with 16-inch alloy wheels instead of 17-inch.

With these new additions, the EcoSport becomes the only SUV in its segment to offer three engine and transmission options. While the American takes on the likes of the Honda WR-V, Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the sub-4 metre SUV space, it also becomes a worthy contender against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and the Nissan Terrano.
