It was in October last year when Datsun India launched the mid-life updates of the GO and GO+ models. Compared to their pre-facelift versions, the current models are much better equipped. Now, however, that equipment list has received another addition. Both models are now being offered with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC). In addition, the GO hatchback’s colour options now include a new shade – Vivid Blue.

So then, what kind of effect will VDC have? Well, the system monitors the speed of wheels, the position of the steering wheel and lateral acceleration via onboard sensors to deliver electronic stability control (ESC). In other words, it tries to fight-off oversteer and understeer, resulting in a safer, more engaging driving experience. Apart from VDC, both cars are also equipped with ABS with EBD and BA, and TCS (traction control system). We believe that in India both these Datsun models become the first of their kinds to offer VDC and TCS in their respective segments.

The duo shares the same powertrain – a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The power-plant is good for 68PS of power and 104Nm of torque. Datsun claims an ARAI mileage figure of 19.83kmpl for both GO and GO+ models. As far as the list of features goes, both offer stuff like keyless entry, dual airbags, LED DRLs, 14-inch alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (now standard across variants), voice recognition, electrically adjustable ORVMs and follow-me-home headlamps.

Datsun says that the repackaged models are now available across all authorised dealerships in the country. While the GO hatchback is priced between Rs 3.32-5.02 lakh and is a direct rival to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Tata Tiago and the Hyundai Santro, the GO+ compact MPV currently has no direct rivals in India and is priced from Rs 3.87 lakh and goes up to Rs 5.74 lakh.

Note: All prices are ex-showroom Delhi.
