Saar: It is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that has 265PS/620Nm on tap.
BMW India has launched a diesel-powered variant of the 6 Series Gran Turismo. It wears the 630d badge and will be available in two trim levels – Luxury Line and M Sport. While the former is priced at Rs 66.50 lakh, the latter will cost you Rs 73.70 lakh. Up until now, only the 630i Gran Turismo Sport Line was available in India, which is a petrol-powered variant and has a revised price of Rs 61.80 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom India.
Anyway, back to the 630d. It is powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 265PS of power and 620Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission only and power is routed to the road via the rear wheels only. Thanks to that setup, the 630d Gran Turismo can sprint to 100kmph from a standstill in 6.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 250kmph.
In terms of looks and features, there are some differences between the two 630d Gran Turismo trims. For instance, the Luxury Line gets chrome detailing on the kidney grille, tailpipes, front and rear bumpers, and window frames. Those are replaced by black high-glossy finished with the M Sport trim. The feature-list is slightly different too. The less expensive Luxury Line misses out on gadgets like soft-close function for side doors, comfort seat package for the driver and front passenger and head-up display. However, the M Sport trim misses out on LED fog lamps. The Luxury Line is available in four exterior paints, whereas the M Sport is available in only three. Out of the lot, just Mineral White is the common colour. Another major difference is the size of alloy wheels on offer – Luxury Line gets 18-inches and the M Sport comes with 19-inch ones.
Common features on both the trims include adaptive LED headlamps, BMW Display Key, frameless doors, rain sensing wipers, wireless charging and a 600-watt, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system which comes mated to a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display.
The 6 Series Gran Turismo in India competes directly with the long-wheelbase derivatives of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The 630d Gran Turismo will take on the E 350 d, which is slightly pricer and isn’t as powerful.
