The year 2020 saw Audi India bring expensive stuff. That included the Q8, RS Q8, A8 L and the RS 7 Sportback. But then, towards the end of a distraught year, the focus shifted to fill the gaps at the other end. The compact Q2 started that process. And now, we have the A4 facelift. The refreshed sedan is available in two variants – Premium Plus and Technology. The former comes with a price tag of Rs 42.34 lakh, while the latter costs Rs 46.67 lakh.
No matter which derivative you choose, the car will come with the same engine-transmission combination. Propulsion comes courtesy of a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine which pumps out 188bhp/320Nm. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission handles the duty of harnessing that oomph and feeding it to the front wheels. That, by the way, is the same powertrain that does its duty in the Audi Q2 and the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Audi claims that the A4 facelift can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 7.3 seconds and top out 241kmph.
Features? Well, as is the case with all cars, the list will depend on which trim level you choose. Get the range-topping one, and the sedan will pack stuff like a 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless mobile charger, and LED-powered headlamps, DRLs and tail lamps. Also, features like powered front seats, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, auto-dimming inner and outer rear-view mirrors, gesture-controlled boot-lid opening and Audi Connect Services are on offer.
The A4 has had its fair share of fan following in India. In the market, it rivals the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and the Jaguar XE. By March 2021, Volvo will join the party with the all-new S60. What’s that like? You can read the first drive impressions right here. Audi has more product launches in the pipeline, including the S5, the new Q3 and the Q5 facelift.
