Saar: Only 14 units – seven coupes and seven roadsters – will ever be made.
Say hello to the new old Aston Martin V12 Vantage in a limited edition avatar. Dubbed by the company as the “Triple V”, its actual name tag reads Aston Martin V12 Vantage V600. You see where the “Triple V” tag came from, don’t you! Anyway, new and old at the same time? Well, yes. The new Aston Martin Vantage has recently entered production and the company couldn’t offer a V12 variant straight away. But since Aston Martin wanted a throwback model to the original Triple V that came out in 1998, it took the previous generation Vantage V12 and garnished it with some bespoke stuff.
What stuff? Well, Aston Martin’s Q division took charge of making it stand out and worthy of a limited-run model. Only 14 units – seven coupes and seven roadsters – will ever be made and each one will be hand built. Powering them will be a 6.0-litre V12 naturally-aspirated engine that puts out 600PS. This engine, although dead for the new Vantage, will live a bit longer in the Rapide S and the Vanquish S. In the Aston Martin V12 Vantage V600, the engine will come mated to a 7-speed manual transmission. Yes, you read it right – a 7-speed manual! The idea is to try and resurrect the sole of the original recipe and that’s why the V12 produces the same power as the V8 from 1998.
In terms of looks, the Aston Martin V12 Vantage V600 is certainly the best-looking iteration of the old Vantage. Sorry for the confusion but that’s what it is. The combination of a unique wide-mouth grille, a new carbon-fibre diffuser and side strakes and a bulging bonnet makes does the trick. To add that icing on top of the cake, bespoke centre-lock forged and machined aluminium wheels will immediately make anyone fall head-over-heels for this thing.
The dark exterior is complemented by an equally dark interior. There’s extensive use of carbon-fibre and dark anodised aluminium. The centre console is finished in carbon fibre while the gear-lever is beautifully carved out from solid aluminium. The seats flaunt a unique stitching pattern and the instrument cluster has been specially designed for this limited-run stint.
Price? There’s no price! The new Aston Martin V12 Vantage V600 is available on request only. And they aren’t sold out yet. Otherwise, Aston Martin would have released a separate news for that! If you have the money and are lucky enough to get your name down for one of these, expect yours to be delivered during the third quarter of 2018. The question is, would you put your money down for a car which is new but is also old at the same time? Or will you opt for the brand-spanking-new Vantage like regular, but super-rich, people?
